Insects and gathering

Sources checked HAEGIN help article “Gather” and the quest article’s Dr. Farbe line, plus the Steam store feature text on 22 Oct 2026.

Quick answer

Gathering means catching an insect or picking up materials on the ground. A Bug Net is required for insects.

Equip it from Bag, then Tool, and tap the Bug Net button at the bottom right. Some insects flee if you get close. Approach those slowly.

Buy a Bug Net from Grossard in the Camping Ground. The Shop can sell nets too.

Steam says the world has over 300 insect species, plus lizards, ores, and fossils you can sell or display. The help article does not name the species.

The Steam page treats insects, lizards, ores, and fossils as one boast: over 300 insect species, dinosaur fossils, rare diamonds, and the choice to sell the find or display it. The help center’s “Gather” article is narrower, and it is the one with steps.

Catch an insect

  1. Buy a Bug Net from Grossard in the Camping Ground, or check the Shop. The Camping Ground is in the Plaza, opposite the beach, between the School and the Ghost House. Phone, then Map, if the path is unclear.
  2. Equip it: Bag → Tool.
  3. Tap the Bug Net button on the bottom right.
  4. If the insect runs, slow down. The article says some insects flee when you get close, and a slower approach is the fix.
  5. Materials sitting on the ground are not a net catch. Walk up to them. They feed crafting.

Dr. Farbe’s part-time job is “help him collect insects.” That is a quest, with a reward the article does not price. Details are on Jobs.

What the store adds, and what it does not list

ClaimWhere it is writtenWhat this page will not add

Lizards in the same loopSteam feature textA separate lizard tool. The Gather article only requires a net for insects

Ground materials and insects both sit in the Bag. Fishing catches are a different tool and a different shop. Stars from selling finds are part of the economy on Money, with no per-item price copied from an old guide.
